Hotel San Rocco

Our room was nearly 30 degrees because the air conditioning didn't work. There were also roof leaks and dripping after rain. I reported the problems several times, and staff kept saying engineers had been and everything was “now fixed.” It wasn't, and I felt they knew they were lying. At 11:30 pm they finally moved us to another room, as though it were a “privilege.” We slept badly. I would have happily given two or three stars if staff had acknowledged my complaints afterward. I also left my wedding suit there by accident and arranged and paid for a courier based on a suit's dimensions. Hotel staff took it off the hanger and stuffed it into a tiny package, leaving it horribly creased for the wedding. I emailed to ask whether they or the courier had done it. They said it was them, not the courier. Now the hotel has replied to this review claiming it wasn't them, which is a lie. The place looked nice at first, but the service showed such disregard for hospitality. Very, very expensive for what we got.

The checkout was slow and unprofessional. Although we'd already paid for breakfast through Booking, staff tried to charge us again. There was no clear itemized breakdown of what we'd consumed, just handwritten notes, and when we asked for a proper receipt, they didn't handle it professionally. We stayed in a Superior room, but the beds weren't comfortable. For a higher category, it was disappointing to find only two single beds pushed together. Breakfast was very limited too, not even mozzarella cheese. My mother was stung by a bee when we arrived. We asked for ammonia, but the hotel said it had no first aid supplies and offered only ice. I think a five-star hotel should at least have a proper first aid kit; it didn't feel right that they had none. For a hotel claiming five stars, the service felt inexperienced and below standard. I don't think I'd stay again and can't recommend it.

The room was really comfortable, with a spectacular view of Lago D’orta. Mr Paolo welcomed us at reception with such kindness and professionalism. What an amazing experience. We'd definitely come back and stay here again. ✅❤️

I haven't stayed at this hotel, but we had dinner at its restaurant, then my husband had a few drinks at the bar. The staff were attentive and caring, and the service at dinner was excellent. The food was amazing: my spouse highly recommends the veal, and I highly recommend the carbonarra pasta. The view was the best part. The food costs what it does, but that beautiful lake view alongside a great meal made it worth it.
