Altarocca Wine Resort Adults Only

We had dinner twice and did the wine tour and tasting. The food was the best we had on our trip, and the restaurant delivered a great experience beyond the meals themselves. Roberto and Mattia were friendly, helpful, and such a pleasure to see each time. They really looked after us. The restaurant deserves to be on its way to a Michelin star, or at least a recommendation. The rooms were quiet, comfortable, and well designed, and the beautiful grounds combine modern touches with a rustic winery feel. This was the best stay of our whole trip, and one of my favorite places I’ve been. I can’t recommend it enough and plan to come back soon. The spa could be improved to feel more in line with what Americans might expect from a spa, but otherwise we loved it.

We loved Altarocca. Our room in the main building had fantastic views, and breakfast was just right. You can also take a pleasant stroll or hike around the vineyard. The restaurant was fully booked when we arrived hungry, but the staff still let us order takeaway and eat it alone on the patio while we had wine. That was above and beyond. It’s about a 15 minute ride from the train station or Orvieto. Taxis are scarce if you don’t have a car, so it’s best to ask the hotel to arrange one if you’re arriving by train. What a gem.

We had a lovely dinner at the resort restaurant. The food was exquisite, and the staff were both friendly and efficient. There was a good selection of wine, cognac, and whiskey, and even the house wine was very good. Breakfast came with the stay, though it was a little disappointing for a hotel at this price. The rooms were clean, spacious, and cozy, each with a nice balcony. We enjoyed being surrounded by nature at this serene resort, with its stunning views. Altarocca felt reasonably priced and good value, especially in today’s overpriced market.

The vineyard and the views looked like a painting, and the rooms were beautiful and spacious. The facilities and amenities were amazing, too. Friendly, helpful staff, a great on-site restaurant, and a good breakfast made this place exceed what we expected. I’d go back in a heartbeat. Highly recommend!
