The €20 charge for the Umbria Jazz music, with a drink included, seems completely fair. The resident band is great, and I've been coming for three years. But this year, students took over more than half the set, with members of the public also invited to get on stage and sing. With all respect to them, that's not what I paid for. I'd expect more from a venue like this, and I won't return next year if that's how the music is set up.

The six-course tasting menu with wine pairing was incredible, served in a breathtaking room that used to be a church. I've stayed at a lot of hotels, and this was one of the finest experiences I've had. It's set a high bar for the rest of my trip. I can't recommend it enough.

The food was delicious and fresh, though a stomach issue meant we only managed breakfast. We could easily walk to many of the historic landmarks from this very central location. From the warm welcome on arrival to the remarkable attention to detail, everything about the stay impressed us. The staff seem genuinely passionate about the property, which makes sense given its rich history and blend of old and modern design. We couldn't speak more highly of the place or our stay, and look forward to coming back.

Dinner is a must, in a venue that feels like stepping back in time. The decor is perfect, the location is ideal, and the staff are kind, gracious and attentive to every request. Incredible hotel and an incredible experience all around. It's a five-star stay.
