La Sommità Relais & Chateaux

We were at the restaurant's private event area. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the restaurant itself is very nice and upscale. The staff were professional. We especially appreciated the tuk-tuk they sent to pick us up and drop us off after dinner.

La Sommita was quiet and clean despite being in such a busy location, and the staff were friendly. We had a wine-pairing meal in the main restaurant, and every dish was delicious, a real treat. They're certainly on their way to becoming a Michelin-star place.

I booked through AmEx Fine Hotels, and since I don't have much experience with five-star hotels, it felt like a real treat. I made a memory I'll cherish. The room was spacious and beautiful, with a breathtaking view from the windows. I booked the deluxe. Everything was clean and comfortable, from the sheets to the furniture and fixtures, and even the room smelled lovely. There's a little library and interesting art to look at. I rarely want to stay in a hotel room instead of exploring, but La Sommità made me feel that way. The shower jets were amazing, and the sunny terrace was a lovely place to relax and take in the view. Everyone was friendly and accommodating, from the man who picked me up at parking to the concierges, housekeeping, and Chiara, our dinner server. I really appreciated that they were patient while I practiced my Italian, even though they all spoke English. The Michelin-guide restaurant Cielo is attached. My family is Pugliese and I've been to Italy many times, but hadn't had this kind of Michelin-star restaurant experience before. It didn't disappoint. The manager introduced me to all three chefs, who greeted me so kindly. I ordered four courses but I think they brought six, and I felt spoiled having the place to myself. Breakfast was delicious too. The noise was a downside. From my room, it was loud at 7am, with lots of talking and doors slamming. I thought I was missing breakfast when I woke, but it was only 7:07am. Even my earplugs helped only a little, and I was woken before 8am on the second morning too. Earplugs are a good idea, especially with jet lag. Also, I'd never seen a cold jacuzzi before. It would be nice if it were warm for l'autunno, though I understand you can't have everything.

The view was magnificent, and the hotel itself, including the garden and pool, looked even better than in the photos. They drove us up from the parking area to the top of Ostuni, where the hotel is. The service was fantastic, and our room was spacious, modern, and clean. Breakfast was one of the best I've had, and it comes from the same kitchen as the Michelin star restaurant Ciele. Beautiful hotel, definitely recommend!
