I was surprised by some of the negative breakfast reviews. We found it generous and varied, with more choice than at any other hotel we stayed at in southern Italy on this trip. There was a good selection of sweet and savory food, including pastries, yogurts, fresh fruit, cheeses, eggs, cereals and cured meats. Our room at Masseria Cappuccini was spacious, quiet and well-equipped. The masseria sits in peaceful countryside with lovely views, and it’s a short drive to Alberobello, Locorotondo, Ostuni, Cisternino and Martina Franca. The garden is beautifully kept, and the pool is gorgeous and family-friendly. Its beach-style entrance makes it easy and safe for kids to get in.

Masseria Capuccini is nicely appointed, with beautiful features, and made a quiet base for visiting Ostuni, Locorotondo and Alberobello. I was glad I stayed here instead of in Alberobello. To me, Alberobello is a tourist trap full of souvenir shops, which is a shame because it’s so commercialized. You can see it in an hour or two. Locorotondo was much better to explore, in my opinion. The pool wasn’t tidy or clean when we stayed off-season, though we hadn’t expected to swim anyway. Breakfast was good.

The location is lovely, quiet and spacious, surrounded by farms, with a well-kept feel and a centuries-old charm. The estate is partly enclosed by beautiful stone walls, and the large entrance gate is locked at night. You get a key. Parking is a bit tight for bigger cars, but manageable if you take more care than Italians usually do. It’s a great base for the coast, historic towns, markets and other sights, and for top-class shopping in Bari if you want. The only restaurant within a five-minute drive serves good meat, though the atmosphere and chicken could be better. For other meals or a nice dinner, expect to drive 20-30 minutes. The service was excellent. They tried everything to keep us happy and were hospitable, attentive and helpful. Breakfast in the beautiful pool garden was international, top quality and left nothing to be desired. Our one wish for breakfast would be dark or whole wheat bread instead of only white. The owner-managed complex has an owner who looks like an American Football Quarterback, far beyond 6 feet tall, with a very friendly manner and the ability to take criticism. Impressive! The room maid, who also served breakfast, was professional and spoke English. Our room with minibar had air conditioning and heating, a cozy feel and furnishings carefully chosen for their style and color. It wasn’t too small, and the beds were good. We stayed in two connected Trulli rooms, each with two beds, but there was no curtain on the existing curtain rod. We wanted more privacy between the rooms. There was one bathroom at the end of both rooms, not ideal but required by the floor plan, and we could live with it. The terrace had a lounge sofa area and a separate dining table. There was plenty of space in pretty surroundings in front of every room. The pool was clean and gradually got deeper, like a sandy beach, with one side deep enough to swim. Small children can use it easily but need watching. There were enough deck chairs and some shady spots. The LCD TV was old, cheap and flickering, and had no German channels, though satellite TV offered almost all other international channels. They should switch to Internet TV and replace the screen. Tablet and phone internet was okay when available, but they should add more DHCP leases for Wi-Fi. Once 8 or 16 devices were online behind the central DHCP modem, no more could log in unless someone disconnected from Wi-Fi and the internet. This same problem existed in Northern Italy eight years ago, but was resolved there eight years ago. We understand that Internet TV and more DHCP leases cost money, even in mid and low season, but the TV and internet issue costs one rating star. Nobody is perfect. We’re happy to have discovered this place, with its good service and very fair prices. Overall, it feels good to be here.

A lovely B&B in beautiful countryside, just a short drive from Ostuni. The room was great and the pool spectacular. They kindly let us stay at the pool after check-out. I’d highly recommend it.

The owners and staff are very friendly, and the pool is nice. The place is special and well-priced, with fast internet. Breakfast was a bit too Italian for me, and I would have liked something hot. Sadly, I couldn’t use the in-room jacuzzi because it wasn’t working, and the toilet room had a few small problems.
