Masseria Fontana Vecchia

The setting among the olive trees is very pretty, the pool is nice with comfortable loungers, our room was clean and the staff were pleasant. But the room was noisy. There was a door between our room and the neighbors' with no sound insulation at all, so we could hear every little movement. It didn’t feel private or relaxing. The food was bland, uninteresting and quite expensive for what you get. They charged a ridiculous 3.5 per person for cover, and we didn’t even get bread. Breakfast was the cheapest supermarket food: tasteless bread, cheese and ham, with eggs cooked far too long. There were also lots of unwelcoming fines and rules, see picture. They weren’t enforced on us, but it felt patronizing and like a cash grab.

The breakfast is simply to die for, and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful, kind or efficient. This beautiful masseria among the olive trees has a rustic style that would melt your heart. The location is great if you’re visiting after a wedding in Ostuni, or on holiday and looking to stay outside the bustle of the main town. Highly recommended for everyone. Thank you for having us!

They have a strange list of “fines” posted in the rooms, covering things like not leaving on time, taking room towels to the pool, where pool towels are provided at reception, and getting suntan oil on the sheets. Otherwise, it’s a traditional Masseria with a nice setting, pool area and friendly staff.

Really nice facilities, clean rooms and amazing staff. It’s a great example of how local hospitality adds value.
