Ostuni a Mare

The staff were rude and unhelpful, and one member laughed when I mentioned the birds keeping me awake. A nest above my room meant they chirped all night, making sleep impossible. The thermostat was stuck at 22 C/71,5 F and couldn't be adjusted up or down; a blanket I requested took a day to arrive. My window was broken when I arrived, and after I reported it, they took 24 hours to fix it, so I slept with air coming in through the broken window. The hotel is huge and in poor shape, with no elevators, long corridors that leave you searching for your room, only drinks in the minibar and nothing to eat, no steamer, very basic decor, and an open closet with no door. This is nowhere near a four-star hotel.

We'd definitely come back. The service was excellent, breakfast was great, and the pools were spotless. It's a beautiful location, close to the beach.

The hotel is spacious and very nice, with clean rooms and facilities, lovely pools, and a good breakfast with lots of choice and fresh fruit. It costs a bit much, but beach sunbeds, towels, and parking are included, which makes it more reasonable and convenient. You can take a golf buggy cart to the beach or walk for 6-8 minutes. What I missed was a more lively atmosphere: in the first week of July the bar was empty, and there was some piano before dinner but not much else for entertainment. Dinner wasn't a highlight either, so you're better off going into Ostuni or to a nearby restaurant.

The beach was large and well serviced, and the pools were a bonus. Even at full occupancy, it never felt crowded. Breakfast was extensive and tasty, and staff did everything they could to make the stay pleasant and encourage guests to join activities. I was there on business and had a great experience. My smaller room was unrenovated but clean, decent, and had all the necessary amenities. The property is massive, and our group spent evenings by the bar without disturbing other guests. My room was at the far end, so getting to the common areas meant a few minutes' walk. We were disappointed that the train was out of service, though alternatives were offered, and we were glad to hear a sustainable train would replace it. It would be nice to have a refillable water fountain and avoid single-use plastics. I'd definitely return for a private stay, and so would the whole group. Thanks!
