Villa Belvedere

The internet was very poor, only up to 1-5 mbps, and there was no mobile coverage, so keep that in mind if you plan to work from the villa. I also never felt I had privacy because the host kept coming by without warning. After we left, he sent a photo of a missing coffee basket, an original spare part worth 7 EUR, and an invoice for a brand new espresso machine for 120 EUR, which we had to pay. Avoid this place. This guy is a fraudster!

The villa is an amazing place to stay, but the host is very rude. We visited with our families and kids, and he charged us extra for things like dirty covers. Communication was really hard because the host doesn't speak English or any other language. I wouldn't recommend this villa to anybody.

We'd hoped to visit the town and stay at this villa, but friends of ours came back and told us about their experience, so now we don't think we'll go anywhere near it. They said the owner tried to rip them off and took money from their credit cards for things that hadn't been discussed with the card owners. The money was taken unfairly. I hope Airbnb checks the people allowed to list their places more carefully so fewer mistakes like this happen.

We chose this property as a peaceful base for day trips to nearby towns, and it's been just right for that. It's 7KM from Centro Storico Ostuni, not in the center, so we get to start and end the day among quiet olive trees. The hosts are warm and gracious, live down the road, and can be reached on WhatsApp when needed. The old stone trullo has kept its charm while becoming a villa with modern conveniences. There are two large bedrooms and bathrooms in the main building, plus a HUGE kitchen in what used to be the conical trullo. Two full suites with showers and kitchenettes are attached, each with its own entrance. One is upstairs, so keep the stairs in mind if that's an issue. That upper suite has a big balcony with both a shaded and an open veranda, and the view goes on and on. Both suites have a veranda. The pool and outdoor areas are wonderful, with shaded parking in two spots and an electric gate. There's a garden where you can pick vegetables, plus figs, plums, pears, apricots and other fruit. Mature olive trees are all around. Nearby villas are your neighbors. For supplies, there are several markets. We liked Spin, less than 1KM down the road. The house has a washing machine under the stairs to the upper suite, a dishwasher, oven and microwave. There is a lavazzo single use coffee machine, as well as a standard espresso maker for the stove. The place needs nothing and is as amazing as the pictures suggest.
