Vivere Ostuni

What stands out most to me is how naturally the place fits into its surroundings. You can see the owners’ respect for even the smallest forms of life in the beehives and the bat and birdhouses, as well as in the abundant flowerbed plants and the restoration of old tools. The house lies in the heart of the Ostuni Murgia escarpment, a haven of biodiversity and peace.

We stayed in the property's largest apartment during the last week of August 2018, and it was lovely, spacious, welcoming, and clean, just as the photos show. There were five of us: me, my wife, and our children, aged 14, 12, and 5. The temperature was just right, though the countryside got very cool in the evenings. It’s a quiet spot, but there are three apartments, so you don’t feel isolated. Ostuni is a 10-minute drive away, and Cisternino, a beautiful town, is nearby. The large terrace has a lovely table. Inside, there’s a beautiful stone entrance with a fireplace on one side, a double bedroom, a large brand-new bathroom, and a huge kitchen. Behind a partition in the kitchen are two single beds, which are still functional. There are no shutters in the kitchen, so plenty of light comes in, but the kids slept well anyway. A stone staircase goes up to a small but very cute bedroom we called “the tower.” Our five-year-old daughter slept there, and there’s another large terrace upstairs. Recommended.

The week we spent in the Ulivo trullo was wonderfully peaceful, up on a hill among the olive trees. The property is clean, well organized, full of character, and has all the comforts you need for a relaxing stay. A special thank you to Mrs. Madia and her family, who were always available to answer our questions. Be sure to tour their white beehive for its authentic scents, colors, and flavors.

A morning coffee at the garden table, surrounded by quiet, olive trees, and fruit trees, was just the right way to start the day. The property is clean and very comfortable, set in nature and ideal for a truly relaxing stay. Alberico, the owner, is exceptionally kind, helpful, and generous. We’ll definitely be back.
