Otranto Vacanza Facile - La Corte

We’ll come back as soon as we can. Corte 1 gave us everything we needed to relax in the quiet and enjoy Otranto’s history. The apartment has all the comforts for a lovely stay, and it’s a few metres from the historic center, around 100 metres from the sea and restaurants, with a supermarket nearby. The owners are always available and gave us excellent tips.

The apartment itself is nicely finished, and the location is excellent, just 50 metres from the historic center. The pass for free parking 300 metres away was useful too. But there were a lot of problems during our stay. The bedrooms didn’t feel private: on the first floor, a two-metre wooden divider doesn’t reach the ceiling, and the second-floor bedroom has no door. There’s no soundproofing between them either. Light came in through the opaque French windows, and the blue curtain on the first floor wasn’t enough to block it. There was no curtain at all on the second floor, so waking up with the light on vacation was unpleasant. Only the first-floor bathroom had a wall-mounted hair dryer, which meant we had to use that bathroom. We also found a strong musty smell on the stairs, and nobody explained waste disposal at check-in. The kitchen had no dishcloths or tablecloths, many dishes were dirty, and there weren’t enough cups or glasses for four people. We contacted the agency the next day, and they promptly brought the missing items. Cleaning still seemed inadequate: the kitchen handles felt sticky, and under the closet I found dust and what may have been food residue when picking something up. Worst of all, while making the bed I found yellowish stains and hair on the mattress cover... 😢😩
