Padova was full of charm and history, and the apartment looked nice at first. But the checkout turned into a deeply uncomfortable experience. A few minutes after the 10 AM checkout time, while we were still gathering our things, the cleaner came in and started shouting angrily at us. She was so confrontational that we felt threatened and briefly worried it might become physical. She then shouted into her phone in another language, possibly an African language, and stormed around while we tried to finish packing. The cleaning afterward also looked careless, just a quick sweep, with no vacuuming or proper cleaning. It left us wondering how clean the apartment had been when we arrived. We left stressed and very uncomfortable. It’s a shame, because Padova deserves better hospitality. The host should reconsider who is put in charge of cleaning if they plan to keep renting the place.
