The mattress was dirty and completely worn out, and the room and bathroom fell below the standards I’d expect. I agree with the other negative reviews about the excessive cleaning charges too. When I raised an issue with reception, they just sent me to an email address that never replies. Not recommended.
The bar beside reception is a must. Micaela is a great host behind the bar and takes good care of guests, with good food and great beer. The hotel itself is quiet and lovely, close to the beach, and has a free laundry room. The rooms need maintenance and mosquito nets.
We liked the setting at Palau Green Village, especially the charming Italian feel and the beach, just a two-minute walk through a lovely pine forest. We spent a week there as a family with our four-year-old. The apartment was clean and well equipped, the pool was in the middle of the complex, and the café-bar served excellent drinks. We had a Sardinian-style gin and tonic with herbs that was amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful. Guest information needs to be clearer, though. We booked through a third party whose details didn’t match the property’s policy. We were told checkout was at 10 am, then learned on arrival it was 9 am. Some fees also hadn’t been disclosed in advance, including a 100 euro cash-only security deposit. The hotel needs to keep its own and its partners’ information up to date. At first it felt a bit sketchy. We figured most things out by checking different sources and the information at the hotel, but that could be stressful for other guests. The cleaning fee was a hefty $80, yet no one had told us to take out our own trash at checkout or where to put it. I wish the receptionist had explained. Cleaning the kitchenette wasn’t included either, and if it seemed dirty, they would take money from the deposit. Checkout was 9 am sharp, but reception didn’t open until 9. In our case, it opened at 9:15. We had to be there to get the deposit back, so we couldn’t just leave the key in a box. Reception and café hours were also limited: closed from 10 am to 4 pm, open only 9 to 10 am and 4 to 8 pm. That’s awkward for travelers, especially since many flights from Olbia arrive in the early afternoon or late evening.
I booked a room for four through Booking, expecting one double bed and two separate beds. When we got there, it was one double bed and a sofa, which wasn’t suitable since two of us weren’t a couple and had chosen separate beds. The reception blamed Booking, and Booking blamed the hotel. I don’t know whose fault it was, but neither side tried to solve it. I would have accepted an extra mattress and slept on the floor, but even that seemed too much to ask. The desk offered no help and just kept saying it was Booking’s fault. I’ve never encountered customer service that seemed to care so little. They said they weren’t responsible for the room description on Booking and rejected an official complaint from Booking too. Enjoy the one star.
Palau center is a ten-to-fifteen-minute walk away, and the beaches are only five minutes on foot through lovely woods. The place is cozy and nice, with free parking, free laundry, a clean pool, green grounds, and a small café where you can relax.
