Hotel Borgo Dell'Orso

The room was roomy, clean, and looked after each day, with fresh towels, good air conditioning, and a very comfortable mattress. Free parking on site was handy for getting around by car, and the staff were welcoming. We spent two nights at Borgo dell’Orso in Palau and had a pleasant stay. It's about seven minutes by car from town; I wouldn't walk because the hilly road isn't very pedestrian-friendly. Check-in was easy, though doing the online form before arrival speeds it up. Call ahead if you'll be arriving late. There was a faint paint smell when we first entered, the shower pressure varied, and breakfast was basic and not worth much. The mountain setting may mean strong pumps are needed to keep water flowing steadily. Even with those small drawbacks, I'd recommend it for a short visit, especially if you have a car.

The room was clean, and the balcony's laundry rack came in handy, though there was no privacy since people at the entrance and reception could see it. Palau was conveniently about 10 minutes away. The staff were nice and brought extra pillows; they also let us change rooms for the second night, but the dripping water noise overnight still kept us from sleeping well. There were a lot of room issues. The toilet kept running after flushing and needed another press to stop it. The AC worked, but it faced the third bed, making that spot unusable unless the person wanted to wake up sick. The shower door didn't seal and the floor was level with the bathroom, so it got wet after every shower, a common problem in Italy. Hot water took about five or six minutes. Breakfast was below average: no scrambled eggs, a single coffee machine with a long line, pork but no turkey, and just one kind of unhealthy corn flakes. I had to ask for more whole wheat bread, and the tomatoes weren't replenished. There wasn't good fruit, no pepper packets, and only one shared pepper shaker. They had just one type of croissant, dusted with powdered sugar.

The rooms feel brand new, and the hotel was very clean. Everyone was kind and professional. The cleaning staff were lovely, the breakfast team and Vladimir were friendly and helpful, and reception was welcoming too. It was a really nice stay, thanks for everything. I highly recommend it!

The receptionist who welcomed us was really kind and friendly. We had a great time here.
