The location works well, just a short drive from central Palau and only steps from the sea. We stayed as a couple for leisure, and the private assigned parking was included in the price. The terraced house in Vecchio Marino 2 has a sea view and had been recently renovated. At the entrance there’s a small garden, kept watered and maintained by a gardener, plus a little pergola with a table, chairs and clothesline. Inside, a small hallway has a sofa bed and wall unit, leading to a living and kitchen area with a sofa, sideboard, dining table and chairs. The apartment was clean, and final cleaning is handled by the agency. They only ask guests to clean the kitchen countertop thoroughly. Waste has to be sorted based on the calendar they provide, then carried to a collection point a few steps away instead of left outside the apartment. The kitchen looks modern and new, with a large refrigerator, dishwasher and utensils. It has a four-burner gas stove supplied by a small external cylinder, but no oven. The washing machine is built in where an oven might otherwise be. There’s also an iron and ironing board, air conditioning, a mobile fan, drying rack and a TV, though some channels still weren’t available after retuning. There’s no safe. Breakfast isn’t included. The bedroom is small, with an uncomfortable bed and pillows. There’s only one bedside table because there isn’t room for another, and the wardrobe is awkward enough that we never used it. The bathroom is small and has a bidet, with small, medium and large towels for each person. Hot water comes from a recently replaced electric boiler. There are no towel rails by the sink or bidet, which is inconvenient, and no hairdryer or complimentary toiletries. A couple of things to know: the place is rented through Idee Residenziali in Palau on the owners’ behalf. They require a €250 cash security deposit, returned at checkout if there’s no damage. Check that the kitchen gas cylinder isn’t empty as soon as you arrive. We only noticed ours at dinner, but luckily the agency found someone to replace it quickly. Good value for the money, though the space could be arranged better. I expected towel rails, a more comfortable bed and pillows, and some of the amenities that were missing.
