They serve breakfast at the table, with a couple of different options each day rather than a buffet. That suited me perfectly, especially compared with other places in Italy. The staff were super friendly and communication was easy. You can also check yourself in if you arrive late at night. It’s a cozy little hotel or B&B, and the rooms are just the right size with everything you need for a couple of nights.

We stayed three nights. Driving to the place was hell, though we did find a nearby parking spot. It’s on the first floor, behind a tiny door, and you walk straight into what feels like a street art museum. The eight rooms are painted by different artists. Ours was spacious, with a high ceiling, air conditioning, and some bottles of water in the fridge. The shower was nice and everything was clean. Evenings got a little noisy, but the provided earplugs did the job. Friendly staff. Tip: try the lift 😜

I was a bit nervous being on my own during the first hours of my trip, but the host sent all the instructions through whatsapp and was helpful from the start. I was pleasantly surprised by Afea. I needed an easy, inexpensive place for my first night in loud Palermo, and the room was good value, with nothing missing. The neighborhood wasn’t dodgy at all, just a little noisy, which isn’t Afea’s fault. The host also gave me extra time after checkout to take a business call. I’m really glad I chose it. xx

Danilo, the host, clearly loves his city and shared lots of helpful tips. The breakfast was unusual in a good way, with different traditional pastries to try. It’s a cozy B&B, well placed for visiting Palermo, with most sights an easy walk away. The bed was comfortable too.
