We lost 100 euros on train tickets and spent the evening scrambling for somewhere to stay, eventually ending up literally on the street. Our vacation was badly affected by the stress. We were supposed to arrive by train between 9 and 10 pm, but the hotel told us check-in was only from 4 to 7 pm and the owner said she couldn't wait. We contacted Booking, but they wouldn't give us a refund or let us arrive at 9 pm. We offered to stay at the station that night and check in the next day, but the owner refused that too. We then bought tickets for the earliest bus instead and told her we'd reach the hotel by 7. We even offered to have a friend in Palermo collect the keys and send our passport details if needed. She still said no. We rushed there with our luggage in an unfamiliar country and messaged when navigation seemed to have brought us to the right place. She said we weren't there. When I asked her to send the location, she replied that it was seven minutes past 7 and she wouldn't accept us.

We were two girls visiting Palermo for the first time and had booked and paid for Amuni through Booking. Our train and bus connection ran into the kind of timing problem any tourist can have. We let the owner know, but she wasn't helpful. We gave up the paid train tickets and hurried onto a bus, which cost us extra. By the time we got to the city, she said we were seven minutes late and told us, “I can't wait for you.” Then she left us outside. This was my 22nd country, and I've never had an experience like it. I was surprised by how negative and unhelpful she was instead of trying to assist. People thinking of booking this hotel should know what happened to us.

The place itself is beautiful, and the city center is easy to reach from here. We were treated very well, with suggestions always available and our questions answered.
