Artemisia Palace Hotel

The room was pleasant, and the breakfast staff were lovely and very friendly. But our experience with reception was unacceptable, so I wouldn’t stay here again. On the morning of July 17th, our Booking.com reservation was cancelled without warning on the day we were due to arrive. When we called, the female receptionist was rude and kept hanging up on us. At one point, while we were on hold, we could clearly hear staff laughing at us. We tried to communicate, even offering to speak Italian, but got no empathy. Since we had already paid, we went to the hotel in person and found that a room was available after all. Nobody apologized for the stress.

The location was the best thing about the hotel, although the neighbors were very loud. We changed rooms twice, and both rooms had mold, poor cleaning, and noisy air conditioning with dust all through it. The hotel seems to have gone into total decline in both construction and service since the day it opened as a four-star place. They take advantage of the location and overcharge, as they did in our case. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you really have to.

Lovely hotel, and the cafe was outstanding. Giovanna was wonderful with her attention and the food. She deserves a raise.

Even the manager did nothing when the second room also had mold in the shower. The receptionist didn’t seem to care either. On our first night we found the shower glass door broken, so they moved us, but the new room had the same mold problem. The room was dirty, the location was bad, and I can’t understand who gave this below-zero motel four stars. Worst motel ever.
