We stayed at the Casa per Ferie Don Orione Palermo and had a really positive experience. It’s a quiet spot at the foot of Monte Pellegrino, away from the chaos but still well connected to the city center and the sea. A good fit if you want to see Palermo and have somewhere peaceful to return to. There’s also convenient internal parking, which is a real plus when traveling by car in a city like this. The staff were warm, helpful, and ready with advice and directions, and we felt at ease right away, almost like being with family. Our room was bright, spacious, and very clean, with a comfortable bed and a well-kept private bathroom. The furnishings are simple but functional, and the daily care and attention to detail show. Services felt reliable, the place was tidy and peaceful, and the prices were truly competitive, so the quality for the cost was excellent. I’d highly recommend it to families, groups, couples, or anyone after a simple, clean, welcoming stay in Palermo. I’d go back without hesitation.

The room I was given was modest but clean, and the residence looked like its online photos. The furnishings were a little dated, but overall I had a positive impression. The problem was the administrative staff. Two very kind women checked my booking using papers printed from emails, with room numbers and other notes written on them, since they don’t have a management system. I was tired after a long trip and didn’t pay close attention at check-in. After handing over my document, I was asked to pay, and I put my card down without thinking. I’d specifically requested a receipt when I booked. The payment had already gone through, and the women said they’d check with the office about a fix because they hadn’t noticed my request, which was printed on the back of the paper. I heard nothing during my two-day stay, so I asked again at checkout. I wish I hadn’t. The same woman who’d helped me on the first day came out from the manager’s office. She wouldn’t let me in to speak face to face, and told me, rudely and with obvious annoyance, that nothing could be done and I should have thought of it earlier. Then she dismissed me. I would have accepted a simple apology and an explanation that it was no longer possible, and I know I should have paid closer attention. But I’ve rarely been treated with such rudeness. I felt so bad I wanted to leave Sicily, especially since everyone else I met had been so kind. One person turned a peaceful stay into a living hell. A charitable organization like this has a lot to lose with a woman like that managing it. I hope she gets the same rudeness when she needs help.

There are plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants nearby. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and had everything you need. Excellent!

The rooms are spacious, and it’s a convenient place to rest after a business or tourist trip. There’s no breakfast, though even a small morning canteen would’ve been nice. The cleaning staff seemed a bit rushed, and there were no warnings, though at least one of them was careful.
