Hotel Concordia

The hotelier were very polite and friendly, and the hotel has an elevator. Our room was very clean, and the location was great. Breakfast had a nice variety of cakes, fruit, and marmalades. The only drawback in our room was that the AC didn't work very well.

We spent four nights here and had a lovely time. The staff were so kind and attentive, checking in often to see if we were all right or needed anything. Breakfast was tasty and had a surprising amount of variety, and they kept refilling the trays promptly. For a 1-star hotel, it went beyond what we expected. The location is close to the main tourist sights, so there's no real need to rent a car. Palermo is easy to explore on foot, which is great if you like discovering the city as you walk. A pleasant, budget-friendly place with great service, and we'd definitely recommend it. 🩷✨️

The room we ended up with was clean, and it was fine for one night, though only two of its five lightbulbs worked. The hotel is within walking distance of both the city center and train station. The price and rooms may be okay, but be aware you might not get what you booked, and they may not care. We booked for one night in October 2024, choosing a “Double or Twin Room” described as having a balcony overlooking Palermo's old town. The listed amenities included mountain View, view of a sight, city view, and terrace. We arrived by train and walked to the hotel, which is a large building with different hotels on different floors. After getting the keys, we had to find the room ourselves. It had four beds, no balcony, and its “view” was a shaft, another window about 2m away, and hardly any light. I went to reception to explain the problem. The woman treated me as if I were stupid and said I had probably only looked at the photos, which didn't mean the room we booked had that view. I showed her my booking. She first said, “I can’t read German,” so I changed the app on my phone to English and showed her again. She then said they had no rooms like that available. I told her this wasn't okay because we'd paid for a different room. She said she needed to call her supervisor; after speaking with him in Italian, she told us he'd arrive in an hour. We waited more than an hour, came back, and he still wasn't there. She couldn't say how much longer it would take. Since we were staying only one night and couldn't waste more time, we left for the rest of the day. I wouldn't have been so angry if they had simply admitted the mistake. They could have offered breakfast, a partial refund, or something else. Instead, I felt lied to and treated like I was stupid. They could have advertised the room as it was, and I still might have booked it, but that treatment was unacceptable.

For a cheap one-night stopover, this was perfect. My basic single room was clean and had air conditioning, though the window didn't shut properly and the curtains weren't good. Breakfast was lovely, and the staff were helpful.
