Hotel Plaza Ungheria

The room was cleaned every day, and when the staff noticed my bottle of wine in the fridge, they kindly brought me a lovely wine glass. The reception team was warm and full of useful information. It’s a clean, pleasant boutique hotel right in central Palermo, and the price felt very affordable for what you get. Thank you.

Breakfast means a short trip to a pastry shop about 20 metres away, but the pastries there are excellent and far better than the usual hotel spread. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and getting in and out was well organised. There’s also an espresso machine for guests by the entrance. The rooms are comfortable, though not large, around 15 square metres. Like many historic Italian city hotels, it occupies a floor of a building with a daytime porter. It’s under a 10-minute walk from the airport shuttle stop at Piazza Politeama. I found it very good value and would recommend it.

There are coupons for coffee and a pastry at nearby Bristrot Cafe, plus a generous self-service bar stocked with drinks and snacks. Plenty of biscuits, tea, coffee, croissants, fruit, cutlery and paper cups too.

The rooms were lovely, though sharing a bathroom wasn’t really for me.
