La casa del Dottore

Mrs. Giovanna was warm, welcoming, and extremely helpful, always there when we needed anything. The apartment was clean and tidy, and it felt like the right place for our next Palermo holiday. We stayed for five days. Our sincere compliments, and thank you. Alberto and Maura from Brescia.

We stayed in the Casa del Dottore 2 apartment on the raised ground floor, beneath a large building. It’s airy and laid out well. Driving around from here worked well, and we always found a parking space in the area in front. The one drawback was hearing the drains from the apartments above.

This was a terrible stay, and I can only speak about the apartment we were given. The owner had called the day before we arrived and asked us to keep him updated about any problems as we got off the ship in Palermo, but after we reached out, he didn’t reply until 11 the next morning. At the property, Giovanna, the cleaning lady, met us instead of the owner. She was arrogant and rude. I politely asked her for a receipt after paying her, since the money was going to her as an intermediary rather than directly to the owner. From caution and past experience, I always ask for a receipt. When she couldn’t provide one, we asked if we could call the owner in front of her to confirm the payment, and she immediately became rude. We let it go, then found a broken hairdryer, torn and ruined sheets, and a dirty house with dirty glasses and dishes. We called the owner about all of this, but he didn’t respond until the day we left. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, and the sofa bed was so bad we took its mattress off and put it on the floor to sleep. Two days later, the washing machine made a deafening noise and started sparking. We called the owner again and got nothing. We barely slept, partly because neighbors made a racket until 2 a.m. without consideration for anyone else in the building. Getting there is inconvenient, parking is hard because the sports field across the way keeps the area full, and driving the narrow two-way street with only one lane is difficult if you’re not confident behind the wheel. Our family has lived in Palermo for over 10 years, and we were returning for a holiday. When we went to hand the keys to Mrs. Giovanna at reception, she wouldn’t come down and told us to leave them there. The owner and “Mrs.” Giovanna were unbelievably rude. We left more exhausted than when we arrived, having lost hours of sleep and had a dreadful experience we won’t repeat.

I rent this spacious, clean apartment whenever I come to Palermo with my children, and I always enjoy staying here. Mrs. Giovanna is very kind and helpful. I highly recommend it.
