La Maison Del Sole

We stayed at Maison del Sole for a couple of nights on our first trip to Palermo, and it was amazing! Mr Pietro was such an energetic, happy, and inspiring person, and he did everything he could to help us find what we wanted. He was like a tour guide, suggesting restaurants, cafes, shops, and places to see, and telling us so many stories about Sicily. We travel a lot, and it’s hard to find someone so welcoming. His passion for the sea and art is reflected in the house. Our room was perfect, with air conditioning, a private toilet, and a really comfortable bed. We’ll definitely stay here again if we come back to Palermo!

The room was lovely, with nice furniture, a comfortable bed, and a good location. But by my standards it was very dirty. It all needs a deep clean, especially the bathroom and shower cabin. The floors hadn’t been washed properly, and the bed needed vacuuming too. The shower should be spotless. Dark walls aren’t a reason to overlook cleaning. I’m giving it four stars because it would be much more comfortable if it were cleaned properly.

The balcony was the best part of the room, with a view along the road toward the sea and mountains. Pietro was a warm, funny host, and the room itself was good. The area was peaceful, though the bathroom door and fridge could both be noisy, so closing the door and unplugging the fridge may help. Great value in a good location, and I’d recommend it.

We had a fantastic view from our well-equipped room, and Pietro and his son Vittorio made us feel very welcome. It’s an easy walk from the bus and train station, with lots of bars and restaurants nearby. I’d highly recommend staying here.
