It's not luxurious, but for this price it's the best of the four Palermo hotels I've tried, and the only one I'd return to. The art deco building is lovely, the location is central yet relatively quiet, and breakfast is good with plenty of variety. Very good value.

The location is the one good thing about this hotel. The room smelled awful, and they put us in the worst, outdated room. The hair dryer in the photo was filthy and looked like an old vacuum cleaner. There were poop marks in the toilet. If you're not local, be mindful, they discriminate. We stayed at five hotels in Italy in the same price range, and this was by far the worst.

The room was superb and the accommodations really impressed us. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Ferries and downtown activities are within walking distance, making it a great place to relax and enjoy Palermo.

Room 209 isn't one of the good rooms, if those exist. Its view is into an air well, and the lift is noisy. The room itself was clean and spacious enough, but the galley-style bathroom was a tight squeeze. The reception greeting was unenthusiastic, and staff didn't smile. With that depressing outlook from the room, a two-star rating is probably generous.
