The view from the windows was amazing, but opening them was a mistake because they were incredibly hard to close. Our bath flooded the first night, and my wife had trouble getting out when the bathroom door stuck. It felt like very little worked as it should. This hotel is a strange 1980s Italian fever dream. Teal velvet on the corridor walls, a lift covered in gold tiles, and a pool with odd rock towers and algae covered steps. The staff were helpful, and breakfast and coffee were good. The old boy who owns it seemed to hang around telling everyone what to do, a bit like a Calabrian Basil Faulty. Somehow I sort of loved the kitsch, crazy place, since I've never seen anything quite like it. Still, I wonder who handed out the four stars proudly displayed outside.

The building felt really outdated, almost scary walking down the hallway on the first day. After staying longer, though, I started to love the place. The pool is unique, and all the staff were so kind. Their coffee was lovely, and that tiny walk-in bath was an experience in itself. The AC took ages to cool the room, but the service was amazing, so I'm giving it five stars.

The room had a great balcony and a lovely view, and it was quite large, though sparsely furnished. The bathroom was dated, and the tub leaked so badly that the floor flooded whenever we showered. Breakfast had a few basic choices, but some families seemed to make sandwiches for lunch, leaving little for everyone else if you weren't quick. The coffee was delicious, and some staff were friendly and efficient.

Breakfast was a disaster. By around 8.00am, a lot of the food was gone and hadn't been replenished, especially the eggs. The restaurant was closed for dinner because there was a wedding party. Worst service ever.

The photos don't quite match the hotel, which needs renovation. But the staff were so friendly and helpful that you forgot the bad parts. Salvatore, the waiter and driver, is the best, so incredibly nice. The beach is very far away, which was the one thing that bothered me, though as I said, there's a free drive to get you there. I'd recommend the hotel to everyone.
