The island's natural beauty really comes through as you walk over lava flows to its many little coves and inlets. Nature still feels largely in charge here. It's a peaceful place for a swim, though getting around isn't especially comfortable or terribly difficult. There are small gravel clearings where you can lie down instead of on the rocks, but they're a bit of a walk from the sea.
There are plenty of comfortable sun loungers, and up north you'll also find a very comfortable little beach with large gravel.
A handy base for seeing Pantelleria, with Lake Venere, the Gradirei marina, Punta Spatillo, and the town all nearby. The airport is fairly close too.
The water was calm and warm on the afternoon of August 1, 2019, and there weren't many people on the rocks. I found a place to stretch out on the flat lava, though getting into the sea wasn't very easy. Still, you could dive in and cool off among the gorges. There's a decent-sized parking area nearby, which is convenient.
The gravel shore is especially peaceful, with a few shaded spots, which are rare on Pantelleria. The sea is always calm here. A beautiful beach.
