The location near the famous Cecchini Butchery seems to be what you’re paying extra for, because I didn’t find the comfort or care to match the price. The expatriate staff came across as indifferent and careless, with little sense of hospitality. Breakfast was just a set tray, with no choice, freshness, or effort. For a premium rate, I expected warmth and professionalism. I left feeling ripped off. A real letdown, and I’d avoid it if you expect decent service.

The hotel was clean, and the staff, from reception to the cleaning ladies, were very kind. But the Instagram page gives the impression that the vineyards and related experiences are at the hotel, which isn’t true. There’s nothing to do or eat at the hotel itself, and they don’t offer proper help getting to the vineyard. If you arrive without a car, there are no taxis, rental bikes, or even a Vespa. You’re left to figure out how to get there yourself. If you’re traveling by bus or without a car, I strongly recommend staying in the vineyard area instead.

The guesthouse has uniquely furnished rooms, a delicious breakfast, and staff who were friendly and helpful. It’s right in the heart of Panzano in beautiful Chianti, just a stone’s throw from the world-famous butcher Dario Cecchini, who hosts a daily Tavolata, a mecca for meat lovers. There are also small, tucked-away restaurants nearby, including Il Vescovino, a real insider tip. We’ll definitely be back.

My husband and I ate amazingly well in the town, and everyone made us feel so welcome. It was my first visit to Europe, and even though I don’t usually go to the countryside, this hotel and town changed my mind. It was such a heartwarming stay. I can’t wait to return!
