Hotiday Tropea Parghelia

The receptionist was very helpful, and the hotel was clean. The room was a good size. Thanks, we’ll definitely come again.

The free shuttle into Tropea was handy, and there’s lots to see and do there, about 10 minutes away. The hotel is small, with very friendly service, and it was very clean. Room service was outstanding. The pool is tiny for a hotel with 17 rooms, with only 6 laylows and two tables with chairs. It’s just 110 cm deep, and there’s little or no shade at midday. The open roof is where the eating area is, though I wouldn’t call it a restaurant. Breakfast was the same every morning, and you had to fight your way through wasps. You could relax at the hotel if you found somewhere comfortable to sit and enjoy the view. From what I saw, air conditioning is only in the hotel rooms, in the sleeping area. We were eaten alive by insects the whole week, and the hotel only disinfected the area on our last night. We hadn’t asked them to do it, and found out from a flyer in our room. There were ants in our room too, room 104. The free shuttle buses were all 9 seater mini Busses, with little or no room to move.

I’d read another review mentioning a possible ant problem, and sadly it’s real in the hotel rooms. We kept everything clean and put our sandwich bag in the fridge because we knew there might be ants. In the middle of the night I woke up to hundreds crawling around and getting into the fridge, the bag, and the wrapped sandwiches. There were ants on the bed, floor, and desk too. Unacceptable.

It’s an average, decent hotel, but the cleaning could be better.
