VOI Essentia Tropea Beach

The food was a highlight: dinners had plenty of fish, seafood, pasta, and good wine. Breakfast had a lot to choose from, including pancakes, eggs, and sausages, though the buffet got a bit repetitive after seven days. I’d recommend half board or full board, since there isn’t much on the coast apart from hotels and a few little food trucks. A supermarket and train station are up the hill, about a 25-minute walk, and Tropea is two stops away. The hotel is right beside a sandy beach with gravel, so you’ll need shoes in the water. Rooms, or bungalows, were cozy and clean, with a terrace-like spot out front. WiFi was more than okay. After-dinner entertainment was usually live music. The taste may be peculiar, but it was still fun, and we could sleep quietly even with loud music near the bar. There were two and a half people who spoke English, but everyone was nice and we managed. The beach, sea, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, and tasty food made this a fantastic vacation. Thank you, VOI Tropea Essentia. In short, 10/10.

The hotel is lovely, set between the mountains and the beach, and the sunset over the water was amazing. We spent two nights there for our honeymoon and had a very pleasant stay. It was clean, with lots of activities included in the price: paddleboard, kayak, padel, and tennis, almost like all inclusive. Breakfast and one meal were included, which makes sense because you need a car to find anywhere else to eat. There are two things we weren’t told when we arrived. First, the restaurant assigns you a table and expects you to use the same one for every meal for the rest of your stay. Quite a few guests complained, and I hope they change this because it’s a shame to get a bad review over it. Second, you have to book ahead for the first row of beach seats. It should be first come, first served, and we didn’t find out until we got to the beach on our first day.

The care we got from the staff at Voi Tropea was even more beautiful than the scenery. Riccardo made great cocktails, Bruno was a buffet beast, Marika was a wonderful waitress, Bouchra was an Arabic angel, Davide was a ping pong professional, and Noemi was a stunning singer. Thanks to all of them and to Massimo (il capo) for the friendly welcome and lovely stay. We both really enjoyed the hospitality and hope to see you again soon. Thank you!

Just got back from a perfect holiday at this amazing place. The people were nice, the food was good, and the sea was beautiful. I’d love to come back one day. Thanks for everything. Adéla
