Villa Donatella

We slept really well here. The room and bathroom were roomy and very clean, and the owner was lovely. It's close to the center, in a nice neighborhood. I'd book this place if you're looking for a good night's sleep in parma!

The main drawback for our group of six was the bathroom: there was just one, and you mostly had to go through a bedroom to reach it. The apartment was clean and spacious, perhaps more space than six people need. It would suit a family with two or three children better. We had the whole Villa Donatella to ourselves for three nights. Its location is handy, with a nearby public transport stop and the center just a few minutes away. The fenced property made parking easy. The villa itself is beautiful and could be five-star with more outdoor upkeep. In late April the garden had tall grass and leaves all over, which took away from its potential.

The host gave us useful check-in information and quickly sorted out the hot water when it ran out. The location was quiet and easy to reach by bus or other transport, and having courtyard parking was a plus. The room was spacious with plenty of closets, but needed another chair or somewhere to set things down. Its little fridge made a lot of noise, and the rattling separate bathroom door kept me from sleeping well. The bathroom was large but old and cold, with a rather dull shower. For a week, two shampoo sachets, two mini soap bars, and one towel set felt insufficient, especially since towels took ages to dry in the humid bathroom. The room wasn't cleaned during our week, the first time that's happened to me. Maybe the holidays had something to do with it, but that doesn't change the stay. With a few adjustments, this could be at least four stars.

A friendly manager and really convenient parking on site. This historic villa on Via Emilia is just a short walk from central Parma, with large rooms across several floors, some shared spaces, and an outdoor area. The parking is worth mentioning twice, it's very useful.
