Stefano Marini has managed this 70-year-old property for 17 years, and he and the rest of the staff were incredibly helpful and hospitable during my stay. Everything was clean and very well maintained, and the insulation kept the rooms and shared areas cozy even in the bone-chilling -12°C winter weather. La Montanina was just the right mix of an affordable, rustic hotel in the cute mountain village of Malosco, Italy, and a convenient base for day trips. Lake Como, Lake Garda, and Venice in Italy, St. Moritz in Switzerland, and Innsbruck in Austria were all within driving distance for a day trip. This was my first road trip across several European countries, so I was apprehensive about finding the right place to stay. I’d definitely book here again next time I’m in this part of the world.

The peaceful setting and enchanting scenery made this a lovely place to relax. The hotel was meticulously kept, the staff were always welcoming and helpful, and the food was excellent, with authentic dishes and homemade products. We stayed over Christmas and also went to the New Year’s Eve dinner with live music. It was unforgettable. A truly special stay, and we’ll definitely return. Highly recommended!

There’s a large terrace outside with a stunning view, plus an adjoining garden with tables and a few loungers. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent, with a choice of first and second courses. They even put a candle on dessert for our daughter’s birthday. The hotel feels homely and is well looked after, with clean, comfortable rooms and plenty of attention to detail. It’s a great base for hiking around the area. We’ll definitely come back!

The Marini family helped make our holiday in Val di Non unique and unforgettable, with real professionalism and courtesy. My daughters and I spent two weeks at this family-run hotel with our 92-year-old mother. She felt completely at home and had no trouble using the heated pool with hydromassage. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and ready to help with every need. It was a relaxing holiday, with different walks to enjoy each day.
