Agriturismo L'Antica Fornace

Our two-year-old was so sad to leave after six nights here, and we’d happily come back. Lucia and Daniele take such good care of everything, and the pool and scenery make the place feel like a real retreat. One tradeoff for that peace and quiet is that restaurants and supermarkets are at least 20 minutes away, along roads that aren’t always in great shape. Highly recommend it.

Lucia was the most welcoming, accommodating host I’ve met. We spent nine lovely nights with my family at Antica Fornace, enjoying the peaceful setting, the amenities, and those gorgeous wide views.

We had a wonderful end-of-summer stay in 2020, which felt like a real gift in a year full of restrictions around the world. The Tuscan hills around Antica Fornace are beautiful, and the apartments gave us a real sense of Tuscany, with plenty of space and everything we needed. We could rent air conditioning, though we didn’t use it; there was lots of shade, and the rooms could be darkened well. Charging our electric car on site made it easy to get around without worrying about where to recharge. At the pool, you can sunbathe or sit in the shade of the lovely olive trees. Lucia and Daniele were warm, funny, and kind to us and our one-year-old. We hope to return sometime.

We loved winding down by the pool, with its lovely views, and the peaceful vineyard setting in the Tuscan hills. It works just as well as a quiet escape as it does as a home base for day trips, with places like Lucca, Pisa, San Gimignano, and Siena within about an hour and a half. The roads nearby make exploring easy. Luccia was a pleasure to talk with. She’s from the area and knows so much about it, and she went out of her way to make us comfortable. The rooms are nice, the grounds are kept up beautifully, and the view from our balcony over the Tuscan hills was spectacular. We had comfortable chairs and homemade candles out there, perfect for an evening glass of wine. Air conditioning was a welcome extra in the middle of summer. We’ll be back.
