The gardens are the real gem here, beautifully maintained amid lovely surrounding nature, with a cozy pool and new, comfortable loungers and sun umbrellas. The staff were super nice, and we have only good things to say about them. Our second-floor room, called Belvedere, had a beautiful valley view, though the lack of an elevator could make that floor unsuitable for anyone with walking difficulties. The hotel itself is beautiful and set in a lovely landscape. There's a working chapel connected to the hotel indoors, where people can even get married that day.

The grounds and surroundings are wonderful, and the hotel itself is really nice. Scheila, the manager, was very helpful, so I'd stay there, but eat somewhere else. The food was very poor: our chicken was over-roasted the first night, and after we complained, they brought us the same food again. At breakfast, they served eggs raw, not boiled or cooked. Who serves something like that?

We’ll definitely come back. It’s a beautiful property with a lovely pool and super nice hosts, and the flat was nicely furnished with everything we needed. A peaceful place to relax, and a very good base for exploring nearby. Be sure to try the olive oil!

What made our stay at Il Castellaro Country House special was the family and staff. Paolo and Itza were wonderful hosts, and we really enjoyed meeting them. After days exploring Assisi, Perugia and Gubbio, we took their ring-making class as a family activity. It was educational, Paolo taught with great patience, and we each came away with a one-of-a-kind ring as a keepsake from the trip, something we couldn't have got elsewhere. Our family of four had a perfect setup in Borgo Paolo: everyone had a comfortable bed, and there was a nice shared area with a kitchen and small family room. We also ate at the on-site restaurant twice. Both meals were delicious, and the service was great. We loved our time here and highly recommend it.

Paolo and his wife gave us fantastic service, and he suggested local restaurants and day trips that we ended up enjoying. The building is wonderful, and the rooms, including our bedroom, were extremely clean and well arranged. The property overlooks hills and valleys in an amazing location.
