La Casa di Miele

The apartment is on the first floor of a two-storey house in a quiet area on the edge of town. There's parking in the garden, but arriving after work around 6:30 in the evening, we found it dark and weren't sure where to enter. The lady showed us upstairs after we unloaded the car. Inside it was freezing because the heat was off. They switched it on remotely, but the place stayed cold and the kitchen radiator never came on. We were unhappy with the cleanliness and the food left out. There were cobwebs, dirt and broken bathroom tiles, and things other guests had left in the furniture. The kitchen had an open, greasy vinegar bottle, salt and sugar already used by others, a dirty greasy plastic cutting board and apron, mismatched and too few plates, dirty cookware, and used sponges and dishcloths. The breakfast was very poor: cornflakes in a jar that had already been opened, with no idea when, more in an open box, biscuits out of their original packaging so we couldn't check the expiry date, and even the toast. There were also two unopened jam jars and three lactose-free cans. The house had a kitchen and dining room, two bedrooms, a bathroom and a locked door. The sheets and blankets were plentiful and clean, though old. But people upstairs started moving furniture and walking around in shoes at 5:30 in the morning and woke us up. We'd rather pay a little more for better service.

The people here were kind and welcoming, and I'd definitely come back. I stayed two nights with my family in a beautiful place that was spacious, bright and very comfortable. The view was lovely, the house had air conditioning and everything we needed, and outside there was a garden with a small pool and hammocks.

We waited a week to write this, hoping the owner would apologize for the awful state of the apartment. We chose it because cleanliness was listed as one of its advantages, but it was dusty, with cobwebs everywhere. It clearly wasn't ready for guests. There were two razor blade covers left on the shower tray, personal medicines of all kinds in the sink cabinet, a bathroom light that didn't work and a toilet that was also out of order. There was a mop for soaking up water splashed from the shower, but no bucket to wring it out. The wardrobe's ten doors were all taped shut with double-sided tape marked "private". The one door that did open was packed with the owner's personal laundry. In the bedroom, hair and cotton dust clung to a chair's legs. There wasn't even a broom, or I would have cleaned it myself. We also found an open carton of milk in the fridge, with no idea how long it had been there. It felt as if the owner had come across four chickens and decided to rent out this squalid apartment, treating us condescendingly. We are 😞

There was a large hole in the wall just before the master bedroom. Inside, every door was shut and marked "private." The shower kept dripping even though we hadn't used it, and a tile was missing beside the shower door.
