Agriturismo Corte Ambrosi

The rooms themselves were lovely, with pretty plant names, tasteful decor, modern bathrooms, and good quality toiletries. The facilities were above what I'd normally expect from a B&B and felt worth the price. Still, I find this a very difficult place to rate. Getting there without a car or bike was awful. I came from Sirmione on a Friday afternoon, and no taxi would take me, even though I was willing to pay the very high quoted fare of 80 Eur. Public transport was difficult too, with buses and trains not running on schedule and no easy connections. When I finally got to the nearest train station in Domegliara, I had to walk more than 1 km along a busy road as fast cars went past. The management also seemed very strict and inflexible, with little concern for guests' peace of mind. I had booked two nights for my best friend's wedding down the road in Pescantina. This was the place most recommended to wedding guests, and several of us were staying there. The night before the wedding, I kept in touch with the manager while trying to work out how to get there. I explained that transport was a problem and I probably couldn't arrive before check-in ended at 21:00. The reply was blunt: I should find another hotel or B&B, because they absolutely would not check me in after 21:00. People tried to help, including the bride, who was stressed, and her hotel staff, who were trying to find me a taxi, but it was too late. We even sent a friend to the B&B at 21:00 to collect my key, and he wasn't allowed in. I ended up at a hotel in Desenzano, shocked, stressed, and in tears just before the wedding. I was the wedding's celebrant ("celebrante") and really wanted to be at my best that day. I left Desenzano at 7:30 to get to the B&B by 9am and start getting ready. To be fair, they cancelled the booking for the night I missed, and the manager still let me in at 9 o'clock so I could get ready. She also gave me a discounted rate for my second night. But I'd rather have paid the normal price for both booked nights and not gone through all that stress, which affected the bride and other wedding guests too.
