Hotel Acquadolce

The staff were fantastic. Thanks, Michael, for all the recommendations. They were really useful, and some of our best meals were thanks to your tips. The rooms were large, clean, and modern, and breakfast was great as well. It’s about a 15-minute walk to the restaurants, crossing the bridge on the way.

We only booked three nights, which is my one regret, because we’re definitely coming back. This was our favourite place of the whole trip through Italy, from north to south. It was peaceful, cosy, and clean, just right. The sunset from the jacuzzi was amazing. For some reason it was just the two of us on the roof terrace all the time, but we weren’t complaining! Breakfast was finger-licking good. Compliments to the chef and the whole hotel team.

We first came six years ago, and now we’re back again. The hotel is lovely, well located, and has great staff. Francesca and Papa, the owners, deserve a special mention, along with bubbly Lucy at reception and Michael the barman, who knows the area so well. They were all so friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. They made our holiday even more special.

I had a wonderful, memorable few days with friends around Lake Garda, but choosing this hotel was the one downside. If you have another option, I’d stay elsewhere. The rooms were extremely small and felt suffocating. There wasn’t enough space for our luggage, so we had to stack the bags and move them around whenever we needed one. The air conditioning also caused problems. It didn’t work with the key, so almost twice a day I had to go downstairs and remind staff to switch it back on. The controls were at the front desk, and they seemed to need resetting. When it wasn’t running, the room felt like a furnace, especially with temperatures of 40 Celsius outside. I also found the staff rude and often frowning. The receptionist was frequently yelling or upset, and whenever I asked for help he seemed to make things harder, usually saying, “that’s the rules.” When I first arrived with my bike, he stood up and yelled at me. I asked him to calm down, but he kept shouting. Since it was my first time there, I didn’t know bikes weren’t allowed. I expected a receptionist to explain that politely and help me take it out. My bike is expensive, so my instinct was not to leave it somewhere it could be stolen. Another time I asked where the person in charge of the bar was because I wanted a drink. He frowned at us and yelled that this was reception, he wasn’t responsible for drinks, and I should wait for her to return.
