Hotel Puccini

The weather was really windy last week, but we still had a lovely stay. Breakfast was very good, the staff were friendly, and the room was a great size. The only thing we didn't like was the very firm memory foam style pillows.

We had a great selection at breakfast, which was included. The hotel is just one street from Lake Garda, around a two-minute walk to lovely views of the lake and town. The main centre, with plenty of shops and restaurants, is about a 10-minute walk away. The scenic views and flower boxes there are breathtaking. We'd definitely stay again and highly recommend it. Our quadruple room had a double bed and two singles, with ample space for four adults. It was very clean, the beds were extremely comfortable, and there were two balconies. One had a great view of Lake Garda and Peschiera Del Garda. The bathroom was small but clean, with a good shower. The staff were welcoming and friendly throughout. Our only negative was the layout on the third floor: although there was an elevator, after getting out you had to go down a flight of steps to reach our room. That seemed badly designed and not very accessible for older people or anyone with limited mobility or luggage.

We stayed four nights with the kids. The room was clean, the shower was good, and breakfast was nice, though I'd suggest adding options for people who are fasting. The hotel has good parking and very kind staff, and its location is perfect. Everything else was very good. I'd recommend staying here, and we'd definitely book again if we get the chance to visit Lake Garda.

We paid €2,160 for six nights in August, €360 a night, for the most expensive family room. Instead, we got a smaller room worth about 25% less. When we pointed this out, the response was essentially, “your problem, you should have said earlier.” We picked this disappointing, greedy hotel mainly because of the pool. The water was cloudy, dirty, and very cold. The poolside cabanas were reserved for deluxe rooms and stayed empty, but we weren't allowed to use them. The same went for the private parking spaces. We eventually realized we'd paid at least as much as guests in those deluxe rooms with those privileges, but got none of them. Management seemed purely money-driven, charging extra for almost everything, even pool towels at €5 each. In response to the hotel's reply: they say there are no “room categories” and that rates depend only on guest numbers. But Booking.com clearly lists categories including Superior Family Room and Superior Quadruple Room with Balcony and Partial Lake View, with different layouts, amenities, and prices. We booked the most expensive family room. They also said the cloudy pool was caused by heavy rain two days before our arrival and that it was “promptly resolved.” We stayed six nights, and the water remained dirty the whole time. Nearby hotels all had crystal-clear pools.
