Villaggio Camping Bella Italia

We stayed for 10 days with our three-year-old, two adults in all, in a three-bedroom lodge booked through happy camp. It was clean and in very good condition. The kitchen had utensils, plates, pans, pots, a gas stove, fridge, small freezer and microwave. There was also a sponge, a little washing-up liquid and a microfibre cloth. Staff were kind and helpful. The on-site washing machine cost 5€ in coins for a 35 minute cycle, and Lidl was a 15 minute walk away. We highly recommend Noleggio bike rental across the street. The pool, playgrounds and kids' activities were popular with us, and we had an excellent stay. It's a good base, but we made the mistake of not renting a car and found we needed one. We'd still definitely return.

The campsite is in a great location, and we had a really good three-week holiday here with our caravan after booking by email with an ACSI card. A couple of things could be better, though. The new supermarket layout is inefficient, with too few registers. The queues for bread and checkout were very long. Shower building 4 also had a lot of broken locks. We reported that at reception after the first week and again a couple of days later, but nothing was fixed. It felt like they didn't really care.

There are lots of guests, plenty of space, and a lively holiday atmosphere, so this large campsite could be a great option for families. But the sports and activity side doesn't match its size. The sports fields, tennis courts and activity areas seemed dated and poorly maintained, and we expected more facilities across the site. Most options are concentrated on just one side. On the other side, there's very little, which is less convenient and enjoyable for people staying there. Better upkeep, newer facilities and a fairer spread of activities would make a big difference.

We never actually stayed at the campsite. The woman who was meant to welcome guests started shouting at me for parking in the wrong place and told me, “this is not your home.” She yelled as though I were a small child. I've visited plenty of campsites and holiday destinations, and I've never been treated so disrespectfully by staff. It was completely unacceptable and well below a reasonable standard of customer service. First impressions matter, so I'd strongly suggest reviewing who you hire to welcome and interact with guests.
