We had our dog with us, and the generous grounds are fully fenced, so we didn’t have to worry about our pet getting out. There are nice towns and villages nearby, and plenty of places to eat a short drive away. Pescia is less than a 10 minute drive, with lots of supermarkets, cafes, shops and restaurants. The outdoor pool is fantastic, beautifully designed and equipped. Our accommodation was just right for two people and a dog: a quaint, tastefully decorated living room and kitchen, with a functional bedroom and bathroom. We stopped using the indoor shower after the first evening and used the outdoor one for the rest of the week. I miss it already! The house is an outbuilding beside the main home where our hosts Eduardo and Teresa live. They were very kind and available when we needed help, while respecting our privacy. We stayed the last week of May 2025. It was a beautiful, peaceful holiday in a lovely part of Italy, and we highly recommend it.

The guesthouse is a little snug in places, maybe narrower and more cramped, but it has plenty of charm and everything we needed. We were two people and a dog, and even had air conditioning. Teresa and Eduardo went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. They live next door, but we always had our privacy. We loved the wildlife around Al Melo. Fireflies put on a show from our private terrace at dusk, and we could watch the hoopoe and his wife among the olive trees during the day. Swallows also shared the magnificent pool, which is cleaned daily, and came diving in to cool off during the hottest part of the day. At night there was the nightingale singing. If you want to unwind in nature with all the amenities, it’s a wonderful place. Teresa and Eduardo are fantastic hosts, and we’d give it a clear five stars.

Restaurants are close by, though it’s best to check their opening hours, and shops are easy to reach by car. The owners are incredibly friendly and speak good English. The little house has everything you need, and the pool is fantastic, about 10m x 5m and around 1.60m deep. The owner cleans it every day. The only small drawback was no German TV for evenings, but the good Wi-Fi made online streaming an easy substitute.

We had perfect weather, so there was plenty of relaxing by the fantastic pool as well as exploring the area. We found our little dream home in Mentecarlo. Florence and Luca are nearby, and we parked just outside Florence before cycling into the city. It worked out perfectly. Such a cute little finca and wonderful hosts. We really loved our stay, almost paradise. A top address! 👍
