Ask about his fossil collection if you get the chance. We only stayed one night while passing through, and I wished we could have stayed longer. The owners were lovely and helpful, even pointing us to a good-value restaurant that was still serving when we arrived late. Our little room had an alpine feel, breakfast came with fresh cakes, bread and good coffee, and the town was charming. We had a great time and would happily return.

La Rua is right by the main square and just steps from what we thought was the best restaurant in town. Our room looked over the village and was spotless, quiet and very comfortable. We felt at home almost as soon as we arrived. Luigi helped my husband find secure parking, while Giuseppe and I worked out a couple of days of things to see and do around Abruzzo. Their advice comes from a lifetime in the village, and the welcome from them and the locals was warm. Pescocostanzo is one of the prettiest places we've visited, and we also explored nearby towns and lakes, but two days wasn't enough. Breakfast with homemade jams, biscuits and cakes was a lovely start to the day. We've stayed in plenty of hotels and B&Bs around Italy, but this family-run place felt special. We can't wait to come back to Abruzzo, Pescocostanzo and La Rua.
