Hotel Il Giardinetto

We had lunch at the restaurant with family and sat in the veranda overlooking the lake, which is a fantastic setting. The food was good, but for the price I expected more. The spaghetti with fish was really tasty, while the panko-breaded fish was nothing special. The Pinot grigio in the wine pairing could have been more flavorful, though the vermouth with the cheese plate was a pleasant surprise. Service needed more attention. We had to ask for more water and remind the waiters that the cheese plates included in the menu hadn’t arrived.

The area has become much busier with tourists since we were here 20 years ago at the same time of year. Back then, I remember Caterina as a hands-on owner and a great captain of a smart hotel. She has retired, and the current owner seemed less clear and less involved. The decor and corridors feel a little tired now, but then, don't we all? Some things are still good. The restaurant is well run, with very good food and excellent service, although the menu feels more complicated and less simple and rustic than it used to. The rooftop bar is supposed to be relaxing, but being told where you can and can't sit makes that difficult. A bar is a bar. First come, first served. Relax. Maybe the busier area leaves little room for improvements, and there are more options to consider now too. The past can be a wonderful place, but it shouldn’t be forgotten completely. There’s still a lot to enjoy here, so have a lovely stay.

The setting felt like a dream, and there are great hiking trails nearby. We had an incredible stay thanks to the spacious, comfortable room, excellent food, and wonderful staff. Don't miss the epic ice cream sundae made at the table. We’d definitely return and highly recommend it. Thank you for such a special experience.

We spent one night here with two friends over Easter weekend, and the service was outstanding. A receptionist met us at the car and showed us where to park, and they upgraded our room to fit three guests better. The room was clean, well equipped, and had lovely views. Staff gave us extra towels happily and took time to suggest local sights and places to eat. Breakfast had a great selection too. The area is beautiful. I highly recommend Hotel Giardinetto and will definitely stay again.
