It’s a small B&B with just one room, or maybe two at most. Nothing particularly special, and it’s about a 1000m walk to piano di Sorrento.

The owner, Mr. Luigi, was kind and attentive, and our stay at Il Platano was pleasant in the end. We’d never tried this kind of accommodation before. The place was reasonable, though not suitable for elderly people or anyone with limited mobility. Public transport was very scarce and unreliable. We never learned whether the bathroom we used was private or shared, and we wouldn’t repeat the experience. We stayed at the end of May 2011.

Luigi was so attentive, even collecting me from the port in a vintage car. The room was lovely and breakfast was good too. It is quite a way from central Sorrento, though.
