L'Olivara

The owner was nice, and the rooms were attended to daily with fresh towels, but the cleaning didn’t look thorough to us: the mirrors were streaky, the outlets were old, and the small fridge didn’t work. The pool listed on the website wasn’t filled. When I asked about using it, she said she’d fill it, but told me not to use much water. We were also asked to turn off lights because electricity is expensive in Italy. Laundry was an issue too: I was told each wash would cost 2 euros, then was told 5 euros. I’d counted on doing laundry during our 2 weeks in Italy, and thankfully we were there only 5 days, at the end of our trip. Getting around was exhausting. It’s a 30-minute walk to the centre of Piano di Sorento, and just reaching the train station before taking the train to Sorento wore me out. The place is up a hill, taxis are hard to get, and the owner’s friend charged 50 euros for a drop-off or pickup. We used that service twice because we really needed it and didn’t want to walk uphill at night. There are no stores nearby, so stop in the centre first. The centre didn’t have good restaurants, either. The owner suggested renting a car, but I was new to the area and didn’t want to risk driving. Sorento is beautiful, but I’d consider staying closer or in another village. Think twice before booking here.

We’ve travelled extensively and have never felt so welcome anywhere. The family helped us so much and made the whole stay feel special, while still letting us have a really relaxing holiday. We made pizzas, sang and danced together, shared wine and lemonchello and meals. It’s a trip we’ll never forget. Thank you to this amazing family!

Quiet and clean, with an awesome breakfast. It’s a great B&B on farmhouse grounds.

Lovely views, and the hosts were friendly and helpful. We’d happily come back and highly recommend the place.
