Residence Villa Alda

Our apartment was complete with everything and very well maintained. We had a really enjoyable stay in Italy at Villa Alda, and the staff were so friendly that we’d give hospitality a 10+. We knew about the train noise beforehand, and the building isn't new, so it can also get a little noisy depending on the neighbors.

Nearby shops, bakeries with excellent focaccia, and ice cream places make it easy to find what you need. The sea is close too, though with a dog we used the main road because the grates in the underpasses often frightened him. Our dog was welcomed with a little gift, and there’s private parking nearby, just not directly beneath the residence. The attic apartment was elegant, comfortable, and very well kept. It’s a quiet spot close to the sea, but be ready for the stairs: there’s no elevator, and carrying luggage up to the top floor, then going up and down each day, was awkward.

We always find a little present for our four-legged friend when we arrive, which is a lovely touch. The welcome at Residence Villa Alda was warm and professional, and we felt at home straight away. The place is peaceful and carefully looked after, a great setting for enjoying Pietra Ligure. We had a fabulous week over Easter and are already looking forward to coming back.

The train line runs right in front of the houses, and you can hear trains through the closed windows. They pass infrequently, though, so it didn’t bother us much. Our two-room apartment was spotless and tidy, with a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable sofa bed, and lots of closet space. We were there for a week with our dog, and the kind, helpful staff made us feel welcome. One letdown: the Monge welcome treats for dogs had expired. The apartments face the sea, and the Leonessa dog beach is just steps away, though it costs €20.50 plus €3 per dog and €3 per child per day. There’s a playground and bikes for guests, along with a supermarket, focaccia shop, pharmacy, bars, pizzerias, and restaurants nearby. It’s around 2 km, or 15-20 minutes on foot along the waterfront, to the center. A good option if you’re holidaying with a dog.
