Vivo Hotel

I booked four single rooms with half board for work and had to pay everything upfront, meals included. The work I was meant to do this morning got cancelled because of an inconvenience. I called to ask if I could at least get the money back for the meals we didn’t eat, and was told, “No, I’ll keep the full amount.” Congratulations!

Vivo Hotel worked well for our short visit, and it’s about a 30-minute drive from the city, which makes it handy for Lucca Comics and Games. The staff were welcoming, the rooms generally clean, and the beds were made every day with linen changes. The furniture has a bit of a 2000s look, but it’s sturdy and good quality. The bathroom was comfortable, with a spacious shower, and I appreciated the disposable soap sachets instead of the usual plastic bottles. The one downside is that there’s no breakfast service.

The tuna tartare with pistachios and burrata is superb, and you really should try their famous scrocchina. The location is excellent, and the spacious, welcoming place works well for families, big groups of friends, or business guests. 10 out of 10!

It’s clean and tidy, and not quite the kind of hotel you’d expect. The owners seem to give more attention to the restaurant.
