Colombo Street Station

The host met me as promised to show me the keys. The room was very clean, with a private terrace and bath, good water pressure, and plenty of hot water. You can make coffee or tea there. I’d stay again.

The staff need to learn customer service again. There was noise coming through from other rooms, and the whole stay was really poor. I'd look somewhere else.

The room has air conditioning, and the terrace is a lovely place to spend some downtime. The shared kitchen's washing machine was a big help, too. It's a clean, pleasant apartment, with an elevator to the upper floor. The train and bus stations are nearby, and the airport isn't far either. The downside is how easily sound carries. You can hear pretty much any noise, even a toilet flushing next door.

My room upstairs was new, cozy and nicely furnished, and the apartment's balconies were furnished too. But the bathroom shower leaked, with nowhere to set down bottles. Neither my bathroom nor my brother's had a spare toilet roll or the small towels. I was told those weren't provided. The refrigerator also didn't work. The building and stairs felt neglected, and the courtyard used as paid parking was in poor shape and smelled awful. The little elevator was unpleasant to touch and smelled bad as well. Cleaning it with detergent, disinfectant and a scented spray would have helped. Downstairs and outside, there was dirt and a bad smell everywhere. It's near the station, but the area looked really ugly, and the view over the inner courtyard was awful. My brother's room had been made out of a hallway, and it was cramped, especially the bathroom. The sink was tiny, more like one for a doll. Maybe paying a little extra for the other room would've suited an adult better. On the last day, his toilet stopped working, so he had to use mine. The manager's response bothered me too. After we'd paid, he seemed to rush us away, saying he couldn't look after our things. The apartments themselves are quite nice, but there's a lot that needs work. I wouldn't return. 🤷🏼‍♀️
