Pisa Rooms for Rent

We booked a room for five, but the fifth bed was an extra bed with broken slats, so nobody could sleep on it. Only the bedroom could be locked. The bathroom was in the shared corridor, accessible to other people, and even the owner went in there to do laundry, so there was nowhere to leave a towel to dry. It also smelled unpleasantly musty. I wouldn’t recommend this place, and I’m not especially fussy about rooms.

The lady in charge was kind enough to let me in as soon as I arrived, even though I was there three hours before check-in. The location is great, right by the train station and close to the airport. The place was okay overall, though it wasn’t as clean as I’d have liked. Fine for solo travellers.

For the price, it’s a decent clean room in a handy spot right beside Pisa Centrale train station. There’s a 32-inch TV, and I’d put it at 3.5 stars if I could. The manager wasn’t usually on site, so I had to call and wait 10 minutes for her to come. The building door key didn’t work, which is a serious problem if there’s no staff there to let you back in. Luckily, I got back from dinner just as someone was leaving the building. It’s noisy around there, and the hotel is up a flight of stairs. The lift doesn’t stop at that level; the first-floor lift opens onto another flight above the hotel, so it won’t work for wheelchair users. It could be fine for one night before a morning flight. If I’d stayed longer and raised the key problem with the manager, I’m sure it would have been sorted out. Still, I’d hate for someone to get back late and be locked out. Try the building key while the manager is still around.

This was probably one of the worst experiences of my life. We booked through hostel world and called a week ahead to ask if arriving at midnight would be a problem. The lady said it was fine and asked us to call again before we got there. So at 10pm, we rang to say we’d arrive at midnight. She then said she couldn’t come to give us the key and told us we had to find somewhere else. My partner and I were stranded in Pisa. After we begged her at least three times, she called back and said she would bring the key. Even once we got into the room, the sheets and pillowcases were dirty, and we were given two small, ugly towels. Do not book this place.
