We stayed for three nights in August 2020. It’s ideally placed for visiting Lucca and Pistoia, and has a lovely pool. The setting is quiet and very nice, renovated with plenty of taste, and the family is warm and welcoming.

A wonderful Tuscan place to stay, with a beautiful estate and olive trees. The infinity pool is great, breakfast is very good and made from fresh ingredients, and the family running it is hospitable and friendly.

We’ve come back to La Romagnana for a second visit, and it really is beautiful. The family running it are lovely, and our room was gorgeous. It’s rare to find somewhere with this kind of authenticity. There’s a kitchenette with a fridge and freezer, a great bed, and a bathroom with a shower. The garden is beautiful, with a stunning view over the olive trees, and the pool is a welcome way to cool off after exploring the nearby villages. Abetone is highly recommended for its lovely walks, and it’s a ski resort in winter. Pistoia is an hour’s drive away. Breakfast is phenomenal, with homemade pastries, omelets, fruit, and more.

The rates aren’t cheap, but they’re very reasonable for what’s included. The infinity pool is intoxicating, and the natural setting feels like a Tuscan paradise, with peaceful, quiet relaxation all around. The staff are extremely kind and friendly, attentive to everything from parking and allergies to problems and emergencies. It’s an idyllic spot for couples who can’t stand chaos, rudeness, or vulgarity. 10 out of 10 for everything. We’re two teachers looking for quiet and privacy.
