IHR Pizzo Calabro Resort

The service is excellent, and the food is just amazing, fresh and cooked right in front of you. This hotel deserves five stars. We're going back again.

The beach and sea were beautiful and clean, and the Italian food was stunning. The staff and animators were lovely and welcoming. Every evening there was an event, mostly for children and teens. The houses were pretty amazing, and the resort is well set up with services and sports areas. There are nice Italian cities nearby, neither too big nor too small. Trope, with its famous beach and center, was one of the nicest sights. The volcano islands are a little farther away. I honestly recommend visiting this place. :)

We didn't stay overnight, but the pool had a great view. The countryside was dotted with cherry trees, and the food and view just kept coming. Dinner was nine courses. Five stars.

The food was the best part, and the restaurant staff were helpful, especially Giorgio, the chief of staff. It's self-service, and the animation team was great too. Beds were made and towels changed daily. Still, for an agency booking, the price felt too high for a four-star all-inclusive resort. Some rooms are drafty and mouldy, the water isn't drinkable, and there’s no ATM. The receptionist and nearly all the staff don't speak English, apart from one person. Drinks are served by the cup and only available at the bar until 10 pm, so bring a bottle. The all-inclusive deal was most disappointing for me: no free ice cream, a very limited drink selection and only some coffee pre-brewed in a pot. You can't choose your snacks between meals, which are usually leftover pastry or pizza from the previous meal. The shuttle to the city center costs about €10 per adult and €5 per child. It's too far to walk along the main road. I'll visit Pizzo and the surrounding volcano islands again, since the city is worth exploring, but next time I'll drive my own car and skip all-inclusive.
