We arrived just last night, and it's such a cozy town. The owner of Il Borgo has been really friendly and helpful, and everyone we've met in the street has been friendly too. The local cafe works with Il Borgo, and there's a local market once a week.

The biggest disappointment was the kitchen on what could have been a lovely terrace. Its walls were covered in mold and what looked like organic grime, and it clearly hadn't been cleaned. There was a rotten peach in the fridge, along with opened pickle jars left by who knows who, old opened pasta packets, and bottles of wine lying around. We didn't use the kitchen at all, so breakfast wasn't included for us, even though guests apparently could use it. We spent two nights here. The place has a lot of potential, but it hasn't been realized. There was no Wi-Fi or mosquito netting, and cockroaches and mosquitoes ended up in our room. There's definitely a lot to improve.

The owner was so kind and helpful, and breakfast used to be served on a lovely terrace before the health crisis. There are also several cafés within walking distance. This B&B is right in the heart of Poggiardo, just a short walk from the historic center, with a large parking lot nearby and a supermarket and post office close by too. It's a typical Salento building, with seven roomy, beautifully furnished, clean rooms, each with its own outdoor patio. Highly recommended.
