La Terrazza nel Mare

The owners were attentive and courteous when we arrived, and even left a small, much appreciated gift for our granddaughter. The studio has an amazing view across the Tyrrhenian Sea, and the photos on the website accurately show what you'll get, so there were no surprises. Still, we felt Acciaroli and its beaches are overrated, despite having been considered the most beautiful beach in 2011. Prices for beach clubs and rentals seem to reflect that reputation. We've been to places in Sardinia and Calabria that also had Blue Flag status, and costs there shaped our view. It was a positive stay, but we're unsure about repeating it in future years.

From the start, the owner seemed intrusive. We're staying in her home, and she uses the shared spaces too, so we felt we had no privacy around her, her family, and acquaintances. The Yellow studio photos raised expectations of a sea view, but from the tiny balcony, with no room even for a chair, you can only glimpse the water through the trees. The trees are beautiful, but the balcony view is disappointing. And despite traveling across Italy with enthusiasm, we found there was no beach. Getting into the sea means negotiating rocks, not pebbles, and it's easy to hurt yourself. The shower stall was very dirty and hard to use. The drain was blocked, so I fixed it myself, while the owner denied there was a problem. The bathroom window handle was dirty and rusty, and opening it revealed dirty boots left on the floor. The air conditioning was loud and controlled by a timer, with usage monitored through the owner's phone app. It also broke for two nights during our stay, through no fault of ours, so we couldn't use it. There were just two of us, and we couldn't see how four people could fit. If sharing a home with the owner and having no privacy is fine with you, this may be your place. The owners, Peppe and Linda, are incredibly kind and always ready to help with whatever guests need. Their place is ideal if you're after peace and relaxation, and the sea is just a few steps from the accommodations. I love rocks more than sand, so getting into the water here is a real treat. We've been coming back every August for years, now with our little daughter too, and we always love it. The terrace looks out over what may be the prettiest stretch of Acciaroli sea. At night, the sound of the water lulls you to sleep. You can leave the car and walk into town along a lovely path.

The terrace really is right on the sea, with a wonderful view of Acciaroli. We had a wonderful week in this holiday home. The owner was incredibly kind and helpful, and gave us great tips on beaches, restaurants, and nearby towns to visit. Highly recommend it.
